Ronin Beat - New Testing Build

Testing Ready Build 2

Combat
- The damage model has been changed. Now you have a damage limit, when exceeded in a single hit you go down. When dealt over 75% of your limit in a single blow it counts as a gash. Under that is a glance.
- The d20 roll has been modified slightly. 1-15 are still dodges, and 16-18 are still normal hits. 19 is a 2x damage hit, and 20 or natural 0 as it's reported deals 2.5x damage on it's hit.

Character
- Levels! You now have a level, and it has an effect on you. Unfortunately you do not gain experience at this time, instead you can test duels between equal level characters at levels 1, 5, and 10.
- A PC gains 20% increased damage and damage limit per level. A NPC gains 10% damage and 25% damage limit per level.

UI
- The damage reporting segment has been updated to reflect the combat changes.
- Placeholder portraits have been added for the combatants.
- The program now has icon art.

Where to get it:
Please leave a comment in the thread if you are participating in play testing.

Also if testers could send an e-amil to RBeat.Update@gmail.com with the word "Tester" in the subject line. It'll be very helpful in allowing me to send out surveys and what not. I'll also try and keep more regular updates going out through it, and see if I can't fit some goodies of sorts into it somehow.

  1. I know I'm responding to a bot, but I wanted to put up some thoughts on this.

If you really appreciate my site, you'll link it. Not because I asked you to, but because you found it interesting and wanted to share. At least that's the way it works if your primary concern is bringing good content you think your users will enjoy to your blog roll. More over, if you thought your users would enjoy it, it's because you enjoyed it. So rather than soliciting me for a link exchange, it would work far better to hang around and comment since I would naturally want to find out about the people who regularly comment on my site.

Also, I do have analytics running. Probably the fastest way to make me want to drive traffic to you, is to drive enough traffic to me that it peaks my curiosity. But again, in all of this, the links are natural results of personal interest, not artificial schemes to push a blog link. This is important because it doesn't really help me to have a hundred more users visit my site and have none stick around because it actually didn't even interest them in the first place.

For everyone else reading this, I don't have very many readers right now. What offsets that though is that I have incredible reader loyalty, at least according to Analytics. About 60% of my users, over the life of the blog, are returning users. If you cut out the single visit users, a large demographic that isn't even necessarily human, the next largest visitor demographic is over 200 visits, and that's more than 3x the next largest demographic in line.

So no, your offer doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, and after I'm done writing this I'm going to delete your comment. If you are a human, and want to make a good faith effort to win back my trust, by all means go ahead. Remember though, actions speak so much louder than words.

  2. So just to be clear, if you go down - the combat is over?

  3. Right. Sorry I don't have more context around it yet.
